Mala Child and Family Institute
Mala Child and Family Institute believes the most effective mental health care comes from a collaborative, multidisciplinary team. Their integrative approach brings together psychologists, social workers, counselors, art therapists, occupational therapists, marriage and family therapists, and psychiatric providers to develop personalized, evidence-based treatment plans for each client.

By combining expertise across disciplines, they offer comprehensive care for children, teens, and adults — supporting those with anxiety, trauma, ADHD, autism, OCD, addiction, depression, eating disorders, and more. This team-based model ensures clients receive the highest quality, trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, and culturally sensitive care, whether in person or through virtual sessions across Michigan.

Open Minds Ann Arbor, LLC
Michelle Avery Ferguson, LMSW
Michelle is a Certified Synergetic Play Therapist®. Synergetic Play Therapists® believe that “the therapist is the most important toy in the playroom.” Through her relationships with child clients, she helps children learn to regulate their emotions and behaviors. She accepts children up to age 12 as new clients.
Michelle believes that parents and caregivers are experts on their own children, and are thus an essential part of a child’s therapy process. She provides guidance and support to empower parents to maximize their child’s growth and healing. She also provides therapy for families based on family systems theory to work together in becoming aware of patterns and the roles that family members play in continuing them.
